Team Canada Selection Criteria

As announced during our last AGM we have established a new national team selection criteria to more closely address the realities of the day. In years past when the only Padel courts were in Calgaryand the only Padel association was based out of Calgary … 95%+ of every team selected that went to world championships or international events came from Calgary. Today we have provincial associations formed in B.C, Alberta, Quebec and soon to be Ontario. In discussions with representatives from our provincial associations the following will be followed:

We will use three main criteria for team selection which will have equal weighing and the final decisions will be made by the Head of Canadian National Padel Team -  Bill Stamile.

1-     Participants skill level or ranking

2-     Participants level of dedication to playing and practicing

3-     Participants past and present involvement in helping to grow and promote our sport.

The women’s team will me made up of unlimited number of participants from any area of Canada, realistically that will be from the Calgary area given that B.C. , Ontario and Quebec don’t have any significant representation that we know of yet.

The Men’s team will be made up in the following manner; Ontario = 1 representative, Quebec = 2 representatives and the rest of the team 3 players and one spare, will in all likelihood come from the Calgary area.

This will be the first time we have broader representation from outside of our province and it will go a long way to helping the PAC in their mission to grow and promote the sport in Canada.
